Car Insurance

Georgia drivers must have minimum amounts of auto liability insurance to comply with state laws. This insurance may help cover costs related to bodily injury and property damage that occur because of an accident. Liability coverage may not be sufficient to cover all expenses in an accident.

Your agent may recommend purchasing more liability coverage than the minimum amount required by the state.

Do I Need Full Coverage Car Insurance?

The term “full coverage” is often used to refer to a combination of coverages providing a more comprehensive level of protection. While full coverage car insurance isn’t a requirement by law, your lienholder may require it if you lease or finance a vehicle.

Full coverage typically includes state-required liability insurance and collision and comprehensive coverage. Collision coverage may help cover the costs of repairing or replacing your vehicle if it’s damaged in an accident with another vehicle or object. Comprehensive coverage may help cover the costs of damage to your vehicle from incidents like theft, fire, hitting an animal in the road or natural disasters.

If you’re unsure about what type of coverage is right for you, speak with an insurance professional. They can provide guidance and help you understand the available options.

Optional Car Insurance Coverage

Auto insurance coverage is highly customizable, and your agent may recommend the following additional policies and endorsements to tailor your coverage to meet your needs:

  • Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage may help cover your costs if you’re involved in an accident with a driver who doesn’t have insurance or doesn’t have enough insurance to cover your expenses.
  • Medical payments (MedPay) may help pay accident-related medical expenses for you or your passengers, regardless of who is at fault.
  • Rental reimbursement may help pay for a rental car if your vehicle is being repaired due to a covered claim.
  • Roadside assistance may help cover the costs of services such as towing, flat tire changes, fuel delivery and locksmith services if your vehicle breaks down while you’re on the road.
